If you suffer from psoriasis, you should know that the XTRAC™ excimer laser system is the first FDA approved laser treatment for this inflammatory skin condition.

On the first visit, the dermatologist may perform a test to determine the optimum dosage level for the individual's skin. The day following the test, the patient returns to begin treatments. Treatments involve having the technician move the laser hand-piece over the affected area, "painting" it with laser light. Depending on the size of the lesion, this takes just a few minutes. Although results vary from person to person, long-lasting relief is often obtained in just five to fifteen brief treatment sessions (two to three treatments per week). Many people see noticeable results within four to five treatments.

The laser has none of the drawbacks often associated with other psoriasis treatments, such as premature aging of healthy skin, skin thinning, or resistance to medication. Most patients feel no pain or discomfort during the treatments and no anesthesia is necessary. Although the laser is not a cure for psoriasis, many patients achieve clear skin for many months.
